Actually, Per Diem has been moved. All posts here since February 2002 (it's actually been ten years; some earlier posts were written earlier and posted later) have been moved to the archives of my new blog: 1standarddeviation.com.
1SD has been up and running for over a month, with a new format. It also has somewhat different editorial "policy," the subtle differences of which are perhaps only detectable to myself and my most dedicated readers. If you are a subscriber to Per Diem (and if you got an email notification regarding the post you are at this moment reading, you are), I strongly recommend you subscribe to the feed (with email notifications, as always) of 1SD. The simple form is at the top of the left-hand column on the home page of 1SD. Simply enter your email address. You will get a verification email, which you must respond to, to complete the subscription.
Soon Per Diem will be removed completely from the 'net. It's been a good run for me. Written mainly through the ordeal of the illness, treatment, and final outcomes of two of the loveliest human beings ever to grace my life—though always dealing with the life-affirming (and I hope at times humorous) aspects of our daily routines, in the United States and France... these posts and essays represent markers, milestones and watersheds, as I tried to keep my mindful gaze on the world that surrounded us, rather than seek to examine the terrible inner burden we all endured.
In another month or so, it will be almost a year since I posted anything on Per Diem. I'd say it's time to go. In the interim, I've been deliberately making more of a presence in other forms of outlets provided by the great Internet matrix of media and sites. The creation of 1StandardDeviation is one outcome of this slow but extensive re-casting of my creative efforts into new forms, and, I hope, with new insights as my life continues to renew, in any number of ways.
Thank you for being loyal followers. I really do hope you will continue to follow my sometimes crazy take on things, but then, I called the new site 1StandardDeviation because as the tagline says, "how far off can I be?" The world daily proves itself to be a pretty crazy place, far more so than higher quantum states of lunacy than I could ever aspire to.
And, again, please, subscribe to this new feed. I really need to know you're there.
